Dental Bridges

What it is.
Dental bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth. When one or more missing teeth are surrounded by healthy teeth, a healthy tooth on each side of the empty space is used as an anchor to create a “bridge” to fill that space.  Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures.

Why we do it.
Patients who have missing teeth and have good oral hygiene practices are candidates for bridges. If spaces are left unfilled, they may cause the surrounding teeth to drift out of position. Additionally, spaces from missing teeth can cause your other teeth and your gums to become more susceptible to tooth decay and gum disease.

What to expect.
Creating a custom bridge is a two-step process.  During your first appointment, we take a simple impression of your teeth and prepare your “anchor” teeth to attach your bridge.  During a second visit, approximately two weeks later, we place your bridge in place and adjust it for comfort.
