We pride ourselves in providing complete exams during all your regular hygiene visits and sharing with you any instructions that will aid in reducing your risk in developing gum disease or detecting it at an early stage so you can begin gum disease therapy. If you are diagnosed with gum disease, the good news is that we have a system and technology called Advanced Hygiene Therapy to get gum disease under control 98% of the time without the expense, time or pain of specialist surgery.
What is gum disease?
Many people think bleeding gums is normal. But if your scalp bled when you brushed your hair, we bet you’d worry. Bleeding gums is the most common sign of gum disease (or periodontal disease) but others include: red swollen or tender gums, gums that have pulled away from teeth, a bad taste in the mouth, persistent bad breath, loose teeth, and a change in the way partial dentures fit.
Why we do it.
Gums are the cement that hold your teeth in place. When gums are swollen and pull away, teeth become loose and are more susceptible to decay. Gum disease can be linked to or can indicate more serious conditions such as heart attack, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and preterm low-weight babies.
What to expect.
Advanced Hygiene Therapy (Gum Disease Therapy) is a series of four one-hour visits scheduled one week apart. It reduces the expense, time or pain associated with specialist gum surgery.
